Rep. Mike Levin led Democratic members of the California Congressional delegation in a letter urging the Federal Commerce Fee to research the latest surge in gasoline costs.

The letter despatched Friday to FTC Chair Lina M. Khan went out as the common value within the state reached $6.08 per gallon — $2.25 greater than the nationwide common.

The letter cited an uncommon 50 cents per gallon enhance within the spot market on Sept. 15 as an particularly troublesome incident.

“We admire the FTC’s dedication to shut oversight of gasoline markets in California and throughout the nation,”  the letter states. “We urge the FTC to proceed to research and monitor the enterprise practices of merchants and refiners to make sure that these firms don’t have interaction in any anti-consumer conduct.”

California has created a brand new Division of Petroleum Market Oversight to look at for manipulation of the gasoline market.

Levin represents the forty ninth District that encompasses north coastal San Diego county and south Orange county.
